Brookson advise End hirers on IR35 changes

Monday 31 December 2018

Matt Fryer, Brookson Group Compliance Director advises end hirers on the steps they should take to ensure they are ready for April 2020.

As many of you will be aware in the 2018 Autumn budget it was announcement that the IR35 changes previously made to the public sector are going to be rolled out to the private sector, which will take effect as of April 2020. The outcome of this means that the obligation for determining the employment status for tax purposes of a limited company will now sit with private sector hirers. It will be their responsibility to determine the employment status for their off-payroll workers.

This change is critical for businesses who are reliant on contract labour and we suggest you use the next 12 months to prepare.

To start your preparation read our ‘Are you ready for the IR35 changes’ post on oil and gas vision, where Brookson’s Compliance Director offers his advice to those hiring contractors in the Oil & Gas sector.

If you are a company that hirer contractors in any industry or sector and need support with the IR35 legislation changes please get in touch with Brookson legal, who are available to support through this transition.
