More and more people are recognising the many varied benefits of flexible working, it has been claimed.

The Telework Association has claimed that many employers are begging to see "the bigger picture" with regard to working patters.

This could come as encouragement to a number of UK contractors who could well see demand for their services rise.

Shirley Borrett, development director at the Telework Association, explained that flexible working can offer businesses improved productivity through desk-sharing, hot-desking and a range of to their systems which help save on resources.

"There are other benefits, like loyalty, lower turnover of staff and all of those sorts of things that got missed in the whole employment rights debate. More recently, I think governments have started to recognise these other benefits," she added.

The comments follow the publication of a T-Mobile report, which showed that a large number of small businesses believe that the Monday to Friday, nine-to-five working week is outdated.
