Brookson to host contractor advice workshops

Thursday 12 March 2015

Brookson are set to hold a number of workshops across the country over the coming months with the intention of helping contractors and other self employed professionals get ahead in their work.

The contractor accountancy service has teamed up with Lines Henry and the Association of Independent Professionals and the Self Employed (IPSE) to lead these six workshops between March and October.

They focus on areas that can be troublesome for independent professionals, such as contractors, sole traders and limited companies. Those areas include tax and accountancy issues. It is hoped that the workshops will also be used by these independent professionals to gain help and advice.

Attendees will have the chance to raise queries that they have, which relate to being a self employed professional. They will be able to talk about such things as making the most of their earnings, ensuring that their work is compliant with regulations, planning taxes and running their business on a day to day basis.

The workshops will work as meetings among members of IPSE. Senior compliance manager for Brookson, Matt Fryer, said of the workshops: "Brookson are delighted to be invited by IPSE to host numerous of their members meetings alongside Lines Henry. We are looking forward to assisting IPSE, Lines Henry and our own customers with their tax and accountancy issues."

Brookson itself is an accredited accountant affiliate of IPSE, which is, in turn, the biggest association of independent professional in the European Union. Currently, IPSE has close to 22,000 members.

IPSE says that it hopes its partnership with Brookson will help to make sure contractors, self-employed professionals and freelancers have a stronger voice "among the masses". It also intends to ensure that these professionals are working in a compliant manner and are safe in the knowledge that they are making the most of their income.

The workshops will be free for Lines Henry customers and both IPSE and Brookson members to attend.

The workshop is titled Accountancy and Insolvency - Making the Most of Your Earnings and is being held in a number of locations around the UK. These locations are Bristol, Manchester, Warrington, Sellafield, London and Aberdeen.

It is the event in Manchester that will be held first, on March 25th. At this event, Brookson and Lines Henry will be covering such topics as working options available, key changes to industry over the past 12 months, entrepreneurs relief and raising capital and budget outputs for contractors, freelancers and self-employed professionals.

There will be time for questions and answers as well as an opportunity to network with other freelancers and speak with the presenters, following the 30-minute seminar.
