Brookson's Matt Fryer elected as new FCSA board member

Thursday 24 November 2016

Brookson are pleased to announce that its Senior Compliance Manager, Matt Fryer, has been elected to the new FCSA Board.

FCSA are the leading trade association for service providers to the UK’s flexible workforce (umbrella, accountancy, payroll). The FCSA was established in 2008 with the aim of setting the standard for service providers across the industry.  All FCSA compliant members have to demonstrate that they adhere to the rigorous standards set out in their compliance code which in an unregulated industry seeks to protect contractors and the supply chain which engages them.

Historically the FCSA has been controlled by a Governing Body.  This Body was made up of Accredited Members (who have passed the FCSA compliance Code) only.  As the FCSA has seen considerable growth over the last 18 months, to now include 15 Accredited Members and in excess of 45 Associate Members the way it is controlled has been revised to enable FCSA to be more representative of its membership base and allow decision making to be progressed by a smaller more focussed group of elected members.. The Governing Body has been replaced by a Board consisting of a Chair, a Chief Executive Officer, four Elected Accredited Members and two elected Associate Members.

Matt, who is a member of the senior leadership team at Brookson, responsible for compliance across our umbrella and limited company service lines, commented “The FCSA has grown its membership base considerably over the last few years and has developed into an inclusive trade association.  I look forward to further growth with compliance at the heart of our strategy.  Compliance is my area of expertise and I therefore believe that I can add real value to the FCSA Board during this critical time in our development”.

Julia Kermode, CEO of FCSA added Matt will be a great asset to the FCSA board.  He brings a wealth of experience and industry knowledge, and his technical expertise has often been invaluable in supporting FCSA responses to policy developments.  FCSA and Brookson have a shared vision of the long term sustainability of the professional freelance workforce, and we understand the importance of this for the UK economy. I am pleased to have Matt on board to help drive FCSA’s strategy as we continue to make our mark as the UK’s largest trade association for our sector.
